A serving Royal Engineer who visited from outside the village thought the idea of the Board was a very good idea.
We run various events and hold regular meetings over the year to coordinate and promote the Parish Archive and generate interest in it. These are often good opportunities to discover new artefacts/documents to be included in the Archive.

2pm A walk from the ‘Middle End’ to the ‘Top End’ of Main Street, starting from the village sign at the end of Mill Lane and onward
to Desford Road. Once on the outer edge of the 18th century Newbold Verdon, this part of the village tells us a somewhat
different story from that of the Conservation Area.

along what was once known as the "Top End" of Newbold Verdon.

Walking from the village sign at the end of Mill Lane down to Hall Farm and St James’s church, you will be

Newbold Verdon Library 10am-2pm
People from the village gathered at the War Memorial for the traditional Remembrance Service, with uniformed groups on parade with flags.
This was the first time the Memorial Board, which had been created by members of the Parish Archive Group, had been on display.
Many onlookers gave their views on the new Board:
"It's very good, a grand job."
"It makes the names and the fallen more personal."
"It's very personal."
"It's very good that it's brought the past to life but it would be nice to acknowledge what's happening now and who have given their lives more recently. "
