Privacy Policy

Our full privacy notice is available below as a downloadable document. It covers what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored, and your rights under UK GDPR — including specific provisions relating to our status as a public interest archive.

Data Controller

Newbold Verdon Parish Archive will be what is known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data provided to us.

Collected Personal Data

For administrative and operational purposes, we only collect basic personal data about you. This includes name, address, email and occasionally phone number.

Purpose of Collecting Data

We may collect more complex data, where it is fundamental to the items and collections contained in our local history archive, or the metadata contextualising such items.

Contact Form

When you send us a message using our contact form, we receive the details you enter (your name, email address, message and any file you attach) by email at nvparchive@gmail.com, a Google mailbox. We use them only to reply to your enquiry. We keep them only as long as we need to, unless they relate to an item in the archive.

Spam Protection

Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that it is being used by a real person rather than an automated program. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser details. It is not used for advertising. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Comments

When you leave a comment, for example to help identify a photograph in Community Memories, we collect the name and email address you enter, your comment, your IP address and browser details. Your email address is never published. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet, a service run by Automattic, which receives these details for that purpose. See Automattic’s privacy policy.

Visitor Statistics

We count visits to our pages using WP Statistics, which runs on our own website. These figures help us understand which parts of the archive are most used. They stay on our website and are not shared with Google or any other analytics company.

Likes

When you “like” an item, a record is kept to stop the same visitor liking it more than once.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies set by this website are those needed for it to work: for example, keeping volunteers logged in, or remembering your name and email address if you tick that box when commenting.

Hosting

This website is hosted by IONOS.
